Handmade Soap
3.5 oz bar. Handmade and all-natural. Wolf Run Farm cold-process soap is crafted simply with lard, olive oil, and coconut oil, carefully saponified with water and lye, with rosemary extract added for natural preservation. Soaps are available with or without essential oils for scent and a variety of naturally-derived colors (ex. calendula petals from the garden, powdered sage, French green clay) and additives (ex. exfoliating oatmeal or poppy seeds, nourishing honey).
Why lard- based soap?
We began making soap to utilize excess lard from our heritage pigs in 2020. Lard (from pigs) and tallow (from cows, sheep, and goats) are natural fats that have been used for millennia to make effective, long-lasting soap that retains moisturizing glycerin. Our goal was simply to put more of our harvest to practical use, but we were unexpectedly pleased with the gentleness and quality of the resulting soap! We tinkered with that original formula only slightly, complementing our own pasture-raised lard with small amounts of olive oil and coconut oil for just a bit more lather.
